REVIEW EXCERPTS

"Musik, die von Herzen kommt", Schwyz Kultur, online review 12.3.2018

"From the beginning , the New Yorker thrilled with her exceptional voice. Once she impressed with smoky powerful melodies and fiery rhythms . Then she touched the audience with the gentle «You Were Never Mine»"
. Berner Zeitung, 27.6.2016

"Yesterday we had a great evening concert with Lilly Martin and her band. The evening was a huge success. Nearly 100 visitors enjoyed a great evening. The sound was great, and the joy and pleasure of the five musicians in their music was clearly seen and felt. They reeled off not just the current songs down, but allowed themselves mutually space and freedom for subtleties and individuality. And yet the band always remained compact. I especially want to mention that all the band members were extremely friendly and uncomplicated. We got in after the concert many and exclusively positive feedback ! There appeared a lot of fun. The concert was also best advertisement for our new Dröschi. Thank you for your efforts . Warm greetings from Kaltbrunn." Hugo Gorth, May 21, 2016

CD of the month: “What a voice! The New Yorker, who has made Switzerland her home, proves herself yet again with eloquence, power and emotion With "Right Now" she has succeeded in delivering more that just a small gem of Blues and Soul.” Bluesnews.de, May 2015, Dirk Föhrs

„Lilly Martin is blessed with a beautiful voice. The band’s simmering dynamics are occasionally enhanced by the addition of Walter Baumgartner's Blues Harp, Richard Koechli's slide guitar, a horn section or the soulful voice of Ellis Hall." Jazz 'N' More Magazine, July 2015, Marco Piazzalonga

“Lilly Martin also contributes five powerful, original compositions to her new album which prove her qualities as a songwriter too. Add to that a great and sensual voice that convincingly conveys the essence of each song, the listening pleasure of Michael Dolmetsch’s work at the keys, a tight band, well selected guest musicians, an attractively compiled selection of songs and a flawless production - their third album is a success as well.”
Bluesnews.ch, June 2015, Rolf Winter

“... In addition, (this album) also returns with some killer versions of older songs. "Jealous Kind" by Bobby Charles or "Lonely Avenue" by Ray Charles. Noteworthy "Next To Me", a duet with Ellis Hall. All in all, "Right Now" is by far Lilly Martin and band’s best album so far.”
Good-music.ch, July 2015, René Mäder

"Sexy versatility:  The New Yorker Lilly Martin lives and works in Switzerland and for her CD project "The Roadhouse mission" she surrounded herself with fine musicians and recorded a super hot groovy album, a live recording including 12 great tracks, carried by her reliable and playful band. The special attraction is clearly Lilly Martin, who has a soft and sensual voice. This is not a rock singer, more a sexy soul voice that effortlessly works in bluesy areas. The Roadhouse mission is a successful mix of different stiles, from blues to rock, everything is represented, and everything is played with comparable authority." Bluesnews.ch, click here to read whole article ...

"It was as if the chain-smoking blues got to wear a new dress - originally from New York, the vocalist inspired the audience with her wonderfully deep contralto voice , paving the way directly to the heart. Lilly Martin carries the melancholy of soul , the narration of country music and the deep desires of the blues on her tongue... Her first-class band ensemble added to the music's accessibility and likeability. This added to the ease, stirred on one hand from the playful experimental uses of the genres and on the other hand , from the effortless musicality of the band."

Rock- & Bluescruise 2013

"The New York born singer Lilly Martin and her Swiss band members once again delivered the absolute finest hours in musical performance and entertainment quality.  Musical vibrations of soul rolled off her tongue and into the heart.  Lilly Martin and her brilliantly talented band delivered a great concert of songs that she and the band obviously enjoy, with trance-like ease." Maurmer - Powerplay concert review , June 2013

"The Swiss Made Great American Songbook - a unique cocktail of Neoswing and soulful bluesy flavors. Conclusion: . . A wonderful singer / songwriter menu for gourmets" Blues 'n' Roots Magazine

" Lilly Martin 's latest album " The Velvet Mission " is very groovy and soulful. Originally from New York, this singer has a strong brand , and that is her voice which not easily forgotten.  Velvety, warm vocals that warm the ears and imagination. " ( Jazz Drummer Magazine )

"Music that seeps right under your skin " Neue Zuger Zeitung

" The New Yorker with Cuban roots delivers songs with her exuberant zest for life and an infectious musicality " Kulturpavillon Basel

"With their musical sophistication, the band accompanied Lilly Martin while she immediately moved the audience into another world with her comfortably warm timbre ... lulled them and led them away from the dreariness of November " Tages Anzeiger
